A 16 ft boat was estimated to be 800 dollars to have it done, so maybe 900 for a larger boat. the carpet and materials are probably 200-250 if you did it your self...and its a week to 10 day project.

That's correct. Typically, the price of the carpet installed in your house is marked up so they can tell you the labor is free and it probably took them 1-2 hours to complete the job. The majority of the cost to replace the carpet in a boat is labor due to the length of time it takes to complete. An entire house can get new carpet installed in less time than it takes to replace carpet on a boat.

I asked someone the other day about recovering boat seats and he said that Barrows (sp?) in Lake Charles priced him around $1000 for all his carpet to be replaced and seats recovered.

I have priced the mat list and found that to be around $350.00 for marine grade carpet and hi temp glue. I helped a friend of mine re do the carpet in his 16.5 ft lund Pro V and it took about 2 weeks of on and off night work.

On my 19' Ranger bass boat, which probably has more deck and compartment lids than most, I was quoted turnkey (removal and installation) $600 with a very good grade of marine carpet. Moonlight job done after hours. Most dealers would charge $1,000 to do the job.
